Gingerbread is the leading charity working with single parent families. Supporting, advising and campaigning with single mums and dads to help them meet their families’ needs.
There are two million single parents in Britain today – that’s one in four families with children. Single parents do a brilliant job, but paying the bills and juggling work and family life on your own can be a real challenge.
We know that parenting is about quality, not quantity; we want to see a society where single parent families are valued and treated equally and fairly.
Our helpline and online advice help single parents make confident choices about their family’s future, whether that’s working or studying, managing money or making arrangements with their child’s other parent.
Our training programmes help single parents develop their skills and get jobs that fit with their families.
And our campaigning with single parents ensures their voices are heard, whilst our friendship groups, online forums and supportive membership make sure no single parent has to feel like they’re raising a family alone.
As one single parent told us, “I don’t feel that any other body or organisation represents the interests of single parents like Gingerbread does. Knowing that this service is available makes me feel less anxious, as I know that I have a forum I can refer to, a wealth of resources and someone fighting for my rights on my behalf.”
Whatever success means to a single parent – a healthy family, a flexible job, stable finances, or a chance to study – we work with them to make it happen.
Thank you to PwC for selecting Gingerbread as the Charity Partner of the UK Private Business Awards in 2017 and good luck to all the award nominees, we hope you all have a brilliant night.
